About Codefest

Codefest 2025, organized by Code for Change, is the fourth edition of Nepal’s biggest hackathon, bringing together innovative minds from across the nation. Unlike previous editions, Codefest 2025 will be an open hackathon divided into two stages — the Provincial Phase and the Grand Finale.

The themes for the competition will be decided by the respective Provincial Execution Teams, allowing each province to focus on solving the most relevant local and technological challenges. Codefest 2025 aims to foster collaboration, creativity, and innovation among bachelor’s students in technology and tech-enthusiastic +2 students from all over Nepal.

    Theme: Tech for Transparent Nepal
    → Focuses on building digital solutions that promote transparency, accountability, and good governance across sectors.

  2. Province IV (Pokhara)
    Theme: E-Governance
    → Encourages innovations that simplify government services through technology and enhance citizen participation.

  3. Province VII (Sudurpaschim)
    Theme: SMART Sudurpaschim
    → Aims to develop smart, sustainable, and inclusive tech-based models for the province’s growth.

  4. Province I (Koshi)
    Theme: Tech for Resilient Communities
    → Emphasizes technological solutions that strengthen community resilience against social, economic, and environmental challenges.

    → Focuses on addressing real-life local issues through innovative IT-based problem-solving.

    → Highlights the role of technology in modern agriculture, smart farming, and sustainable food systems.

  6. Province II (Birgunj)
    Theme: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
    → Encourages participants to develop solutions aligned with the United Nations’ SDGs for a sustainable future.

Event Execution

The event will be organized in two different phases.

Provincial level competition

  1. Teams can register representing their college or form team of individuals.
  2. Each team can have 2-4 members in it
  3. Teams will be competing with the ones from their province.
  4. All the teams from a province will compete against each other and the winning team from each province will be selected for the National Competition(Finale).

National level grand finale

At minimumone winner from each province, and 4Âfrom Province IIIÂwill compete against each other in the Grand Finale (48 hours) ,which will take place in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu.
